REG Longshaw's letter 'Traffic fears' does not paint the entire picture of the traffic chaos outside Tesco Express.

There are four junctions onto the Old Birmingham Road at that point; from Braces Lane, Linehouse Lane, Cottage Lane and the Tesco car park entrance. As well as cars parked on the pavement in front of the store, drivers park their vehicles on the double yellow lines outside the store.

Cars present a visibility hazard, lorries and other large vehicles makes visibility impossible, and entrance onto the Old Birmingham Road becomes extremely risky and hazardous.

Bromsgrove District Council's answer appears to be to paint small white crosses on the pavement, a couple of months ago, in front of the shop (presumably something might happen to these crosses at some point); apparently this is to prevent drivers parking on the pavement.

The parish council says the problems are the police authority's responsibility. The police say traffic enforcement is a low priority.

Is this deadlock or will one of the authorities take responsibility to enforce action before a fatality occurs?

Should the store take some responsibility for their shoppers parking safely?

I tried taking a photograph of a large lorry parked on the double yellow lines and causing chaos, on my mobile. The driver was shopping in the store and when he came out he laughed and as well as being extremely verbally abusive and quite threatening, he said the police would do nothing.

He was right. The police said there was insufficient evidence despite there being clear views of the lorry, its number and owner's name and address, the driver, the double yellow lines and other identifying points.

Has anyone got any other ideas to make our road junctions safe for pedestrians, including many schoolchildren, and drivers who use this junction regularly?
