Pranksters held up Bromsgrove School's Commemoration Day activities by locking out visitors. When staff turned up they found the Worcester Road gates securely shackled with a chain and padlock. Bromsgrove firemen had to be called to cut through the chains.
BRITISH Heavyweight Boxing Champion Gordon Ferris welcomed large crowds to the Hagley RC School fete. The £1,000 raised went towards building extra facilities at the school. Attractions at the fete included a disco, fancy dress contest, fashion shows, a brownies' display and various sports - such as karate and table tennis.
A BROMSGROVE woman became Midlands Junior Florist of the Year just three years after becoming a florist through a government job scheme. Deborah Juggins, aged 19, who worked at the Flower Box in Bromsgrove, beat 28 top young florists.
