SIR - Maybe it is my black sense of humour, but the juxtaposition of the phraseology in a couple of your news reports today (July 4) was perhaps a bit unfortunate.

In one report we hear that "there are fears that suicide rates will increase", but we are assured that "no patient will be left dangling". On another page we are informed that "bullying by boys in school is often more physical" while the nearby headline proclaims that last year "fewer pupils were kicked out of school" - presumably because they were being kicked while in it perhaps!
