The Pershore Traders' Association wrote again urging the Rural District Council to make immediate application for powers under the Public Health Act in order that they might undertake the watering of the streets of Pershore without further delay. They also inquired if any action had been taken with regard to the recommendation of the association that a parochial committee should be appointed for the In-town of Pershore (Holy Cross and St Andrew'' s) consisting of members of the Rural District Council and Parish Councils, and the investment of this committee with administrative powers under the above section. They also considered that the parochial committee should act as an advisory committee to the Council in all matters appertaining to the sanitation of Pershore.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Evesham (Councillor and Mrs R White) further endeared themselves to the hearts of the young and aged inmates of the Evesham Institution on Tuesday, when they entertained them to a strawberry tea. It had been arranged that the tea should be held on the lawn, but the rain set in during the afternoon and officers were obliged to transfer everything to the board room. An abundance of good things, which included strawberries and cream and other delectable items of food was provided for 156 inmates of the house, the infirmary and the Cottage Homes. The Mayor and Mayoress cordially received their guests and it was a goodly sight to see the manner in which old and young enjoyed the hospitality. An hour' s community singing brought the occasion to a happy conclusion.

After fourteen months of work and planning and preparation lasting ten months, members of the Lower Avon Navigation Trust attended the re-opening of Pershore lock on Sunday. The ceremony was performed by Mrs C M Bulkeley-Johnson, representing the trustees of the Mrs Smith Trust, which has greatly assisted the Lower Avon Navigation Trust. She expressed her firm belief in Britain' s inland waterways. It those throughout the country would follow the example of Mr C D Barwell and the Lower Avon Navigation Trust, and the happy co-operation between their efforts and the Severn River Board in developing local waterways, we should turn our heritage into a unified system for the benefit of our people as a whole. The Mrs Smith Trust assisted largely with expenditure on the restoration of Pershore lock, estimated at £13,750.
