TWO of the most talented groups of their era, The Fortunes and The Barron Knights are to unite on stage with a show promising great music and humour.
The show comes to Malvern Theatres on Friday, July 21, promising to turn the clock back to the 1960s and 70s.
The Barron Knights have had numerous hits, including Call Up The Groups and Pop Goes the Workers.
They achieved their first degree of fame as a straight vocal harmony group in 1963. When Brian Epstein saw them perform in Liverpool, he asked if they would be part of the Beatles first UK tour ending up with a run at the London Astoria.
Hailing from Birmingham, The Fortunes, pictured left, came to prominence when You've Got Your Troubles hit the American and British top tens in 1965.
They added their own dimension to the sound of the classic pop song, with sophisticated orchestration, incredible vocal harmonies and stylish counter-melodies. This gave them a succession of hits in the 1960s and 70s, including Here It Comes Again, Storm in a Teacup and Freedom Come, Freedom Go.
Call up the Groups will be in the Forum Theatre at Malvern at 7.30pm. Tickets are £14.50 and £16.50 from 01684 892277 or www.malvern-theatres.co.uk.
