A 46-YEAR-OLD mother of three has been chosen as the Conservative candidate to fight for Sir Michael Spicer's West Worcestershire seat at the next general election.
Harriett Baldwin emerged victorious after a closely run contest at Malvern's Chase High School on Saturday evening where she beat off competion from fellow candidates Andrew Griffiths and Margot James.
The selection went to a second ballot following a question and answer platform at the school in front of around 200 West Worcestershire Tory members.
Following her selection Mrs Baldwin said: "My husband Jim and our three children are excited about making a home in this glorious part of England."
Although originally from Essex, Mrs Baldwin has spent the past 20 years in London working for investment bank JP Morgan in pensions and investment management.
She took the opportunity following her victory to fire a broadside at the Government.
She said: "Gordon Brown has wasted billions of pounds trying to run the NHS by central diktat, yet nurses and doctors in Worcestershire are worried about their jobs. We want proper financial scope for a new Malvern community hospital."
