SIR - The ongoing saga of misuse of Worcester public conveniences shows the bewildering depravity and selfishness of some irresponsible members of the homosexual community.
They have no respect for the general public and instead claiming the territory of the loos of the faithful city for their own sex fests.
The very idea that as a result of their activities there may yet be questions over closure of toilets is alarming.
Homophobia is fuelled by the perverted practice of using public locations for sexual activities.
From Clapham common to Ghulavelt Park this national disgrace goes on intimidating and embarrassing those who would wish to go about their business in a dignified manner.
But this is the age of the cyber -community not the dark old days where homosexuality was driven underground by the attitudes and laws of the time.
Todays gays could easily make more private arrangements.
Employing full time attendants would help but it would be expensive. Unfortunately measures such as changing the physical environment of these locations will not deter those who relish misusing them.
It will come down to catching these men.
There is an old offence of outraging public decency and public order legislation that outlaws conduct which causes alarm and distress and perhaps sexual activity in a public toilet falls within this.
Repeat offenders could even be considered for ASBO s.
There is hope to win the war of the WCs and we must not surrender to this perversion.
Andrew Brown,
Worcester.
