A SOUTH African teenager threatened with deportation has won indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
Matthew Pretorius, aged 19, of Clarence Road, was told by the Home Office last week that he had to leave the country because he had no right of residency, although his parents, brothers and sisters have all been allowed to stay.
This week, West Worcestershire MP Sir Michael Spicer took up Matthew's case with Home Office minister Liam Byrne.
Sir Michael's office learned yesterday lunchtime (Thursday) that Matthew had been granted indefinite leave to remain in the country.
His parents, John and Heather Pretorius, run the Calvary Arms, Clarence Road, and the New Gas Tavern, Pickersleigh Road. The family has been in England for four-and-a-half years. They could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
