A Malvern pensioner withholding part of his Council Tax in protest at the closure of public toilets in the town is urging others to take action.

Michael Hodgkinson, of Lower Wyche Road, wants people to write to local government minister Phil Woolas.

Mr Woolas is keynote speaker at a seminar to discuss issues affecting the provision of public toilets, at the Royal College of Physicians in London on Wednesday (July 19).

The seminar is being organised by the British Toilet Association and Encams, which runs the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.

Mr Hodgkinson is urging people to make their feelings known by writing to the minister at the House of Commons, London, SW1A OAA.

The decision to close public toilets in toilets in Edith Walk and Victoria Road, Malvern, Upton High Street and Market Street, Tenbury Wells, was taken as a cost-cutting measure by Malvern Hills District Council.
