I agree with much of what David Judson wrote (Your Letters, July 7), what could be nicer than a swim in the Gullet Quarry on a hot summer's day?
It is a pity that in this modern day, with the risk of litigation and the nanny state looming over us, that it is discouraged.
The message must be 'don't drink and dive!'
Where I disagree with Mr Judson is when he suggests that the Malvern Hills Conservators should do more to ensure that the area around the quarry is kept tidy and litter free.
Anyone who goes there on a Sunday morning will see cans, bottles, remnants of foil barbecue trays etc, strewn around with total disregard for other people, especially those with children and dogs who visit the area.
The Conservators do, in fact, generally have a clean-up after the weekend, but should this be their responsibility?
I would like to make a plea to the youngsters who go there: by all means enjoy yourselves, but please take your rubbish home with you.
