WORCESTER Nomads U13s wrapped up a great MCC national club championship run with a nine-wicket victory over Ombersley at Old Elizabethans on Sunday.

The teams had met in the cup final last year with Ombersley winning a close match.

Nomads won the toss and invited Ombersley to bat. Ollie Steel and Oliver Swift opened and scored quickly before Steele (9) was caught and bowled by Patrick O'Driscoll. Rory Tongue stabilised the innings with 30 retired assisted by Swift (19), Will Bowen (12) and Tom Wylde (7).

A wicket each was taken by Ben Warren (4-0-22-1), Anthony Fahy (3-0-13-1), Patrick O'Driscoll (4-1-14-1) and Peter Preston (4-1-9-1). Ombersley reached 90-6 off their 20 overs.

Nomads' reply was led by James Doorbar who was dismissed LBW off the bowling of Wylde for 24 in the sixth over. Tom Mills batted patiently for 30 retired and was supported by Alex Williams (19no) and Andrew Curtis (16no). Following several dropped catches, only one wicket was lost before Nomads reached 91 off 18.2 overs to claim a deserved victory. Tom Mills was awarded man-of-the-match.

Nomads now represent the county in the national club championship
