THE final round of last month's pool matches were played in the Prudden Road Surfacing Junior Cup competition when the four teams who qualified for next Monday's finals at Bidford were revealed.

Pool A, played at Stratford, despite being dominated through the first three Pool nights by Bidford, proved closer than envisaged as the hosts proved the main threat.

Unfortunately their closest rivals Stratford A were not the best team on the night but sister side Stratford B, whose pairing of Barnaby Bos and Liam Brzezinski, beat all-comers.

They accounted for Bidford 7-5, Stratford A 6-2 and finally Snitterfield in an even closer match 7-6.

Valuable

Stratford A's Daniel Hellier and Daniel Kitchen also beat Bidford 6-4 and Snitterfield 6-1. Bidford finally gained valuable points when George Naylor and Josh Dalton-Morris defeated Snitterfield's Dominic Lorimer and Jack Albrecht 6-1.

Although Stratford triumphed on the night, Bidford had gained enough points to claim a final place.

Pool B at Tanworth-in-Arden proved more one-sided.

With Claverdon failing to field a pair and forfeiting their three matches 6-0, Studley began in confident mood.

Jack Allum and Sam Hilpert-Smith beat Henley 6-0 and then Tanworth 6-1. Henley pair Chris Cardwell and Andrew Cooper defeated The home club's Andy Turnbull and John Starmer 6-3 to leave Studley topping their group and booking a date at Bidford.

Pool C saw current junior champions Shipston A undefeated on the night as Ben Lane and Nick Taylor didn't even drop a game beating Shipston B, Ilmington and Chipping Campden by the same 6-0 scoreline.

Shipston B pair Charlie Taylor and James Hudson also proved too strong for their opposition beating Ilmington 6-0 and then Campden 6-1.

Ilmington pair Nick Robertson and George Matts and Campden's Toby Robinson and George Musgrove had the best match of the night with Ilmington winning 7-6 after a tie-break.

Shipston A it was who qualified for the Finals Pool for a third successive year.

Pool D, hosted by Inkberrow, consisted of two host club teams, Alcester and Pershore. Inkberrow's A team duo were unable to hold Alcester brothers Michael and Arthur Bennett who triumphed 6-2 before going on to beat Inkberrow B 6-1 and then Pershore by the same score.

Pershore pair Josh Carr and Sam Cross made up for this defeat by beating Inkberrow A 6-2 and Inkberrow B 6-1.

Andrew Price and Nathan Coomber, representing Inkb-errow A, managed to save home face by beating B teamers Billy Coughlin and Robbie Guy 6-1 on a night when Alcester qualified for next week's decider.
