BEING honoured by the Queen will not save a Kidderminster headteacher from being a target for wet sponges at her school's major fund-raiser.
Val Weddell-Hall, who was awarded an OBE for her services to education in the 2004 New Year Honours, will put herself in the firing line at Franche First School's Summer Fair on Sunday.
The throw-a-sponge event will be one of many attractions at the fair, which aims to raise £20,000 for school funds.
It will be opened by international gymnast, Ryan Bradley and runs from 1pm until 5pm at the Chestnut Grove School.
Mrs Weddell-Hall said: "Our parents, grandparents, governors, staff and friends of the school work so hard together to make this day spectacular every year.
"This year, we have included falconry displays, local bands playing music, go-karting, quad-biking and a gold medal-winning gymnast. It will be a fantastic family event."
