A YOUNG woman's dream of building a school and teaching English to children in Africa is set to be realised thanks to a donation from a Kidderminster organisation.
Jennifer Byram, 22, of Blakedown, who has flown to Africa, received the contribution from Kidderminster and District Lions Club to help with a project organised by the Madventurers company.
The Sheffield University graduate will take part in several activities as part of the project in the African village of Ho, in Ghana, including painting, plastering and teaching.
She said: "It will be a culture shock but I'm really looking forward to it now.
"I found out about it when I visited Kidderminster Library.
"I'd always wanted to give something back and when I found out about some of the projects organised by Madventurers I decided then that was what I wanted to do."
To raise funds for her trip, Miss Byram also took part in a sponsored run and has received several donations from other local organisations.
She added: "It's such a worthwhile challenge and it will give me lasting memories and fulfilment knowing that we have built something that will last. That is what has driven me to take part in this project."
