THERE are only three weeks to go until the Evesham Rock Festival kicks off featuring some of the best of rock bands from around the country while raising funds for the Macmillan Unit at Evesham Community Hospital.
The charity event held at Evesham United Football Ground in Common Road on Saturday, July 29 from noon until 10.30pm will see You2 and Syrus headling the line-up.
Other rock bands playing on the day include Full Company, Idleheads, Retro, The Irony, Chequered Footprints and The Echoes along with an unplugged set from Newtown's Apple and C-Marie Carter, a Cher tribute band.
Tickets for the festival are available from Surfantix in Evesham High Street costing £7 each and can be bought by calling the event organisers on 07962100790.
Simon Parry, the event promoter, said: "This is going to be a great day and the event is not just about raising funds for the Macmillan Unit but also actively helping to save its very existence. We need the support of the Evesham people."
Promoter Lance Perkins said: "The response from local bands has been great.
"We've even had an offer from a band in Liverpool.
"The bands performing on the day are totally committed to the cause, and we should also thank all the bands who we unfortunately haven't been able to accommodate this time."
Event organisers are hoping the festival will pick up momentum over the next few weeks with the support from Vale businesses and ticket sales to match all voluntary techinical support the rock festival has acquired.
If anyone wishes to get involved they are urged to call event organisers on 0762100790 or 07979793681.
