THE 1st Salford Priors Scout Group wants to swap its premises on Bomford's field for a brand-new meeting place with modern facilities.
The group meets in a 30-year-old hut originally transported by volunteers from Dorset and placed behind Salford Priors School. It was once a nurse's dormitory during the Second World War.
Group Scout leader Malcolm Spriggs said: "The hut has served us well and remains a safe and weatherproof place to meet although sadly we still suffer from acts of minor mindless vandalism. Thankfully these are infrequent.
"However, after 30 years the time has now come to think about a modern replacement."
At the group's annual meeting in May, an architect presented plans for a brick-built headquarters on the site.
A group of parents and supporters are being gathered together to push the project on.
