Leamington Spa 69 all out Bromsgrove 71-1
Bromsgrove won by nine wickets
A DEVASTATING display of bowling by Bromsgrove made sure they grabbed a confidence boosting victory over limp Leamington on Saturday at St Godwalds.
Captain Nick Davies and top bowler Nick Husbands led the way for Bromsgrove, as their Warwickshire opponents were bowled out for 69 - a total that the Boars easily surpassed.
Victory also went a big way to calming any fears of relegation from the Birmingham and District League Division One.
Davies won the toss and opted to bowl first. It was a wise decision as the home side's bowlers took total control of the game.
It was the captain who led the way by taking the crucial wicket of opener Stuart Magill, who was caught by Simon Allison.
Teenager Zafran Ali wasted little time in getting amongst the wickets as he bowled out Ballac for a duck and then had Matt Byrne caught by Allison for four runs.
Bromsgrove did not let up the pace and Davies, who finished with the brilliant total of 3-10, had South African dangerman Francois Klopper (12) caught by Julian Court.
Omar Ali (2-19) had Jason Young (9) and dangerman Faisal Irfan (29) caught by Allison as Bromsgrove turned the screw.
Husbands then hoovered up Leamington's tail end - dismissing David Hawkes (5), Robert Williams (0) and Paul Best (0) as lacklustre Leamington were bowled out for 69.
With a small target for victory in their sights Bromsgrove's openers, Allison and Davies, had to avoid early dismissals and not give Leamington hope of a comeback.
The duo never gave their Warwickshire based opponents a chance as Allison hit 36 not out and Davies made 22, before he was caught by Byrne off Best's delivery.
Davies said: "It was a great performance by all the bowlers. "Leamington were there for the taking and we really got at them.
"Let's hope we can build on this great result."
