Droitwich 201-8 Kington 203-2
Droitwich lost by eight wickets
RICHARD Ferley maintained his excellent form with the bat but Droitwich were no match for Worcester League Division One leaders Kington on Saturday.
Ferley was in excellent form with the bat as he struck a belligerent 75 but it was too-little-too-late for out of sorts Droitwich.
Captain Paul Bryan had lost the toss and saw his side put into bat. This decision worked in Spa's opponent's favour as opener Jerome Connor was bowled out in the first over.
Alex Kolb and Paul Bryan steadied the ship but when they were dismissed Droitwich were reduced to 62-3.
Spa lost Andy Van Vuuren, Damon Gariff and Josh Staines cheaply and only Ferley's brutal 75 dragged Droitwich past the 200 run mark.
Droitwich needed to start strongly with the ball if the team were to have a chance to win the game.
However, they were undone by aggressive batting by Dave Exall (78) and Adam Butterworth (64) as Kington cruised to 203-2.
Defeat ensured that Spa slipped to sixth in Division One and hindered the team's top two ambitions.
Droitwich now trail second in the table Brockhampton by 24 points.
Droitwich will be aiming to get back on track this Saturday when they take on Bromyard away from home (1.30pm start).
Spa's opponents are only one point and place behind Saturday's rivals in the table. They will be able to close in on second place if they defeat Bromyard and Brockhampton slip up to Pershore.
