Monmouth 136-2 Tenbury 135-9
TENBURY were comfortably beaten at Monmouth in Crusader Worcest-ershire Division 3 South after losing the toss and being asked to bat.
Two early wickets reduced Tenbury to 2 for 2 and the side struggled to 52 for 5 as the Monmouth bowlers pressed home their attack with good line and length on a poor track.
Some damage limitation was achieved thanks to Chris Giles (24), Jon Pearson (43) and Derek James (20) who helped Tenbury reach 135 for 9 in their 50 overs.
After Andy Adam took an early wicket for Tenbury with an outstanding caught and bowled, Monmouth charged towards victory with Tom Rawlings claiming the only other wicket, caught behind by Jay Da Costa. Monmouth reached their target in the 21st over.
Tenbury will be seeking to improve next Saturday when they take on bottom-of-the-table Hanley Castle and Upton. Captain Paul Murphy scored 78 and Oliver Tyler 30 for Tenbury 2nds against Monmouth who top the table in Division 3 of the Worcestershire County League.
Monmouth won the toss and put Tenbury in to bat and they reached 179 all out on the last ball of the innings. The visitors chased the score down making 184 for 3 in 40 overs with five overs to spare.
Making their debuts in a Tenbury side full of younger players were brothers William and Edward Gough.
