A REVAMPED play area, costing around £100,000, is being opened in Hagley this Saturday.
The play area, in Worcester Road, has been funded with £80,000 from Bromsgrove District Council and around £25,000 from Hagley Parish Council.
The new facilities are on the playing field owned by the parish council. The equipment will include swings, climbing frames and areas for younger children and older ones aged up to 14. There will also be benches, bins and a picnic area.
Parish council clerk Catherine Humphries said: "The previous play equipment at the site was very old and it was costing more and more to keep getting it repaired. Different pieces of equipment had been added to it over the years.
"So the council decided new equipment needed to be installed and we managed to get a grant to help with the work from the district council."
She said the area was quite large and facilities were now more up to date and appealing for children.
She added: "We did a consultation with residents about the site and a lot of people with smaller children said they needed somewhere to sit, so we have provided benches as well."
The revamped area will be opened this Saturday at 2pm, during Hagley Community Association's fete at the playing fields.
It will be officially opened by Bromsgrove District Council chairman Councillor Craig Lanham and Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride will also be at the event.
The fete itself is due to kick off at 1.30pm with a fancy dress parade.
