I WAS privileged to attend Stoke Prior First School last week to participate in the Vision Map launch.
Rupert Brakespear, education for sustainable development officer at Worcestershire County Council, who led the project, explained the background, the process and unveiling the finished map. Each child contributed in the making of what is a stunning piece of work.
The infectious enthusiasm of Mr Brakespear inspired the children and others who had participated in the project to make their contribution. The confidence of the children was inspiring, the visual presentation showed the healthy co-operation of other local schools and illustrated the knowledge and confidence building of all participating children.
With sufficient background history to make them aware and proud of their heritage, the practical experience made them aware of our responsibilities to other forms of life on our planet. Our children are our investment in the future, from the all-embracing education they are receiving at our very fine first school, the foundations of good citizenship will ensure our future will be in safe and responsible hands.
Congratulations to headteacher Jan Evans and her very capable staff in joining forces with Rupert Brakespear and his team to make this a memorable evening for parents, pupils and parishioners. We are all proud of our community - but this was an event for the history book...marvellous.
