Bromsgrove 5 Scunthorpe 26
Midlands Division One
BROMSGROVE sank even deeper into the relegation mire on Saturday as Scunthorpe beat them at Finstall Park.
The Boars remain rooted to the bottom of the table after their seventh defeat in a row in the Midlands Division One.
The team went into the game on the back of news that Dean Ball had stepped down as director of rugby a few days before.
Ian Hall was brought in, on Ball's advice, as his replacement.
If he wasn't before the new head coach at Bromsgrove must have become aware of the massive task he has of keeping Bromsgrove from going down after watching this defeat.
Bromsgrove produced their most solid performance of the campaign so far against their mid-table opponents, but were unable to win the match.
It was the visitors from Lincolnshire that made the running in the first half.
Bromsgrove conceded two penalties to leave them on the back foot.
A try just before half time meant the hosts were trailing 11-0.
Scunthorpe edged ahead with a penalty early in the second half.
Bromsgrove though did their best to hit back and enjoyed the team's best spell of the game.
John Chance touched down to make it 14-5 after a fine phase of possession and raise hope of a come back.
Bromsgrove continued to boss the match but they were stunned late on by two touchdowns (one converted).
Bromsgrove face a difficult game when they try to end their losing streak on Saturday.
The Boars take on mid-table side Market Bosworth, who have won three of their seven matches in the league.
