BROMSGROVE'S Sally Larner became the top junior girl gymnast in Britain when she won a major competition at Wembley. The 12-year-old, from Echells Close, was the youngest competitor at the Thames Television Junior Gymnastics Championship, yet she won three of her four exercises outright and was the clear winner. Sally was awarded the Paul Laing trophy, named after the recently deceased producer of gymnastics programmes. The Watt Close Middle School pupil also received a letter of congratulations from members of Bromsgrove District Council.
RUBERY voters were at the centre of a polling card poser at the county council elections. A computer error at County Hall in Worcester, meant more than 3,000 voters were told to go to the wrong polling station. Residents to the west of the A38 were instructed to vote at Callowbrook School on the other side of the road, while voters there were told to vote on the western side, at St Chad's School. Red-faced administrators had to spend more than £400 to correct matters.
