Evesham Utd Ladies 5, Bredon 1
SUNDAY'S match was switched to Ashton-under-Hill due to the waterlogged state of Common Road and United ran out comfortable winners as Sam Perry once again showed her striking prowess.
After a quiet opening period, the hosts took the lead after 29 minutes when Amy Summers set up Perry to score with a fierce shot.
Bredon had a couple of reasonable chances to level but shots were fired straight at Mandy Upton.
The visitors almost equalised four minutes before the break but Becky Harper's shot struck a post. However, when the ball was eventually cleared upfield it fell for Perry to fire home a carbon copy of her first goal.
The second half started with Upton again saving from Laura Buffin before Bredon pulled a goal back on 56 minutes. A free-kick awarded on the edge of the penalty area was driven in by Laura Blake and, although Upton got her hands to the ball, she was unable to keep it out.
Two minutes later, United restored their two-goal advantage when fine work by captain Becky Handy set Perry up to complete her hat-trick.
United were now well on top and a fourth goal arrived in the 66th minute. Perry received the ball wide on the right and her pass picked out Handy who in turn threaded a great ball through for Summers to run in and rifle home.
With Laura Westwood dominant at the back, Bredon were getting little joy from their odd forays forward.
Twelve minutes from time, Westwood started a move that almost brought a fifth goal when her pass found Perry who sent in a shot that Bev Allcoat could only parry away.
Summers was quickly on to the loose ball and was unfortunate to see her shot rebound back to her off the outside of a post.
Allcoat then made a fine inst-inctive save from Lisa Tustin but Evesham completed the scoring in stoppage time, again through Perry, whose head met a Charlene McLou-ghlin free-kick with the fain-test of touches to divert the ball wide of Allcoat.
The club would like to thank Ashton for the use of their facilities at such short notice.
United travel to Hereford-shire for a League Soccerite Trophy tie against Hinton on Sunday when they will be looking for revenge after losing in the league in October.
