Malvern Tn 2, Evesham Utd Ladies 1
A FIFTEENTH goal of the season for Sam Perry was scant reward for an impressive United performance last Sunday.
The visitors had the better of the early exchanges with both Perry and Amy Summers forcing the home keeper into good saves.
And, it was against the run of play that Malvern took the lead after 37 minutes when a corner came back off the inside of a post and fell kindly for Stacy Doyle to tap home.
Eight minutes into the second half United went two goals behind when the referee harshly awarded the home side a penalty kick. Sonia Anderson got both hands to the ball but she was unable to keep it out.
As United continued to take the game to their hosts the match became very physical and a number of Evesham players took heavy knocks.
A brilliantly timed sliding tackle by Becky Handy prevented a third Malvern goal before Perry's superb lob from 25 yards deep into stoppage time brought United some consolation.
The ladies are at home to Bredon in a Kidder-minster County League fixture on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.
