Sixty-one houses, most of them condemned, will be cleared away, and 50 families rehoused, if proposals for redeveloping part of the north side of Bewdley-street, Evesham, are approved by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. On Monday, the Town Council, sitting as a housing committee, adopted the proposals on the recommendation of a sub-committee which had considered plans prepared by the borough surveyor (Mr J. T. Hodson) in consultation with the county planning officer. The area involves embraces the sites of existing properties between Littleworth -street and No. 31 Bewdley-street (on the other side of Freer's Court) and adjoining market garden land.

Department of Transport surveyors are to start work soon on plotting a detailed route for Evesham's promised bypass. It was announced this week that they will shortly be seeking access to carry out topographical surveys on land in which the proposed route of the bypass lies. The route, about which the public was consulted last December, follows a line east of the town, starting on the A435 trunk road just south of Brooklands Farm and rejoining the trunk road at Twyford Bank, north of Evesham.
