MALVERN Rugby Club return to Midlands West Two action tomorrow (Saturday) with a visit to Stafford (2.15pm).
Malvern will be hoping for two points to continue their climb away from the relegation spots. Mid-table Stafford defeated Malvern 14-11 at Spring Lane in October.
Malvern lost 32-17 in the North Midlands Cup away to Camp Hill on Saturday but with the retention of league status foremost in Malvern minds, director of rugby David Robins wasn't too unhappy.
However, he lamented the lack of depth in the squad and his side's seeming inability to stop conceding unnecessary penalties.
He said: "We are often our own worst enemies, putting ourselves under needless pressure. We were also very pedestrian, taking an age to get the ball away from the base of the scrum from rucks, whilst Camp Hill's forwards were willing to run, knowing that the ball would be popped up to the supporting men. We could learn from them and need to turn in a better performance in the league this week."
Ironically, Camp Hill skipper Pete Koziot has moved down the M5 and is to sign for Malvern. It is hoped that his introduction, together with Dan Ott, will help to boost the Malvern effort.
