MALVERN Town's up and down Harvey World Travel Midland Alliance season continued with a emphatic 5-3 victory in their final home league game of the season.

MALVERN TOWN 5, BARWELL 3

Malvern started strongly and went in front in the ninth minute when Nathan Jukes set up Steve Lutz, who headed in at the far post.

The home side were well on top and passing the ball around, using Preedy and Tomkins down the flanks to get in some dangerous crosses.

Malvern should have scored again when Preedy sent Mark Owen clear but the leading scorer missed the target.

Then, like so many times recently, Malvern lost their way and Barwell made it 1-1. home goalkeeper Craig Humphries dropped the ball and Masters vollied home.

Barwell's Clamp and Adams went close before the visitors took the lead after Nick Clayton hauled down Spencer in the box and was red-carded. Noble slotted home the spot-kick for 1-2.

Five minutes before the break, Malvern equalised when midfield dynamo Rik Halion sent Owen clear and this time he registered his 22nd league goal of the season when he lobbed the keeper with ease.

Barwell started the second-half well and Humphries made a good save before Adams missed a sitter.

Duncan Willetts was denied by a fine save by Ashton but Malvern took the lead three minutes later after Preedy set up Willetts.

Malvern went 4-2 up when Jukes found Preedy and he then pulled the ball back for Jukes to drive home hard and low under Ashton.

Willetts put the icing on the cake in the 83rd minute when he scored a fine individual goal.

Barwell had the last say in the 86th minute when Adams rounded Lutz and fired past Humphries.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Malvern Town play their final league game of the season away at basement-club Rocester, kick-off 3pm.
