cable worth £12,000 was stolen from a Severn Trent depot at Ryall Grove, near Upton.
The theft was discovered on April 6 and is believed to have occurred some time during the preceding week. Details have only just been released.
"We believe the site may have been visited by the thieves a number of times," said a police spokesman.
"Some of the cable was cut up on site to make it easier to remove."
The cable is known as armoured steel wire copper cable. Anyone with information can call 08457 444888 or 0800 555111, quoting 191S/ 060406.
