MALVERN Town Ladies FC entertained Worcester City Ladies FC in the semi-final of the Soccer Site Cup.

MALVERN TOWN LADIES 2, WORCESTER CITY LADIES 0

Both teams started brightly but it was Malvern who created the early chance when Becky Crack raced through the defence and shot just wide of the target.

Malvern finally broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Sam Shail put the ball through for Polly Bounds to latch onto, round the keeper and fire hard and low into the bottom corner of the net.

Worcester pushed more bodies forward looking for the quick equaliser but Malvern's defence stood firm. Worcester nearly found a way through but some brave goal- keeping from Mavern's Jenny Shail kept them out.

Malvern attacked straight from the restart and earned themselves an early corner. The resulting kick saw Stacie Doyle narrowly missing the target.

Worcester still pushed forward as Malvern were beginning to struggle, the tough mid-week game now taking its toll on the legs.

Malvern dug deep and were rewarded in the 57th minute when Emily Prosser broke free. She rounded the advancing keeper and shot into the bottom corner from an acute angle.

Worcester continued to attack but the tired legs of Jenny Griffiths, Heidi Barlow and Ella Buckle in Malvern's defence held out and helped send Malvern into their second cup final of the season.

The midfield trio of Stacie Doyle, Tracey Evans and Dom Boulton also worked tirelessly throughout.

Malvern now play the league winners Phoenix in the final on May 4, 7.30pm kick-off at Malvern Town.

Malvern also play in the Kidderminster Hospital Cup final on May 10 against Worcester City at Stourport Swifts, kick-off 7pm.

Malvern are sponsored by First Floor Flooring & The Soccer Site.
