COLWALL second XI started their campaign in division three south of the Crusader Worcestershire County League with a home match against Worcester Dominies.

COLWALL II V WORCESTER DOMINIES II

The home side won the toss and inserted the opposition on what was a warm and sunny spring day.

The first wicket stand of 48 between Oliver and Lloynes held up the home side and it was the introduction of Mike King and Mark Shouler that changed the tempo of the game. With runs drying up, the batsmen were forced into a quick single and Scholor completed the run-out.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals until a sixth wicket stand of 57 between Tredinnka and Miles. King took the wicket of the former when the score was on 143. Elsden finished off the tail for only another four runs.

Colwall's innings got off to a poor start with Dudfield, Matt King and McQueen all falling early to leave the home side 10-3.

Sheppard and Barnes dug-in well to see off a tricky opening spell until Barnes fell pulling a ball straight to square leg for 17. Shouler came in at six and he and Sheppard increased the tempo of the innings, until they both fell in their 40s.

Ledbury finished the job off and Colwall gained a four-wicket win.

The Colwall first XI match, away at Worcester Dominies, was rained-off.
