WOMEN from across Wyre Forest were among visitors who enjoyed a ladies lunch and helped raise more than £3,000 for charity supporting breast cancer care.

It was organised by Shuttle/Times and News sister publication, Limited Edition magazine, in aid of Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.

The event was held at Spring Grove House in the grounds of West Midland Safari Park last Thursday.

It was attended by around 140 women and was the latest event organised by the magazine, which raised £2,604 during last year for the charity.

Guests were served a buffet lunch and were able to see a range of health and beauty demonstrations, including hair extensions and image consultancy. A selection of beauty products, designer clothing, accessories and local artwork was also on sale and each woman received a gift bag donated by Selfridges.

A fashion show took place in the afternoon, featuring swimwear from Bewdley boutique, Noir, which is run by one of the charity's trustees, Ann McDowell and formal and casual designer outfits from Debut in Hagley.

The raffle, which was drawn by former TV chef, Rustie Lee, raised £1,144 and £1,045 was raised by an auction, run by Chris Guise, of agents, Allan Morris and Guise, Kidderminster.

Lots included a personal consultation from celebrity makeup artist, Iain Burton-Legge and a makeover from British Hairdresser of the Year, Lisa Shepherd.

The trust, which is based in Hagley, was formed in 2000 by Sue MacMaster and Veronica Kennedy, who lost their good friend, Carole Knaggs, to breast cancer.

Mrs MacMaster also suffered from the disease and was involved in fund-raising for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she had been treated.

The two women set up the charity to raise money for the Breast Cancer Centre at the hospital.

Mrs MacMaster said: "Both Veronica and myself are absolutely delighted.

"It exceeded our expectations and everybody enjoyed it."
