A MIX-UP over road closure times caused delays for residents travelling along Dowles Road in Bewdley.
At 8am on Wednesday last week, the road was closed by contractor, Ringway, which was carrying out resurfacing work - 12 hours earlier than planned.
Alwyna Hill, of Bagginswood, said her journey to Kidderminster took 45 minutes longer than normal.
She added: "People were not very happy about it because there wasn't a diversion - the road was just closed and no notice was given."
Andy Broome, of Worcestershire Highways Partnership, confirmed the road should have been closed at 8pm, adding: "It seems to me that they have misunderstood what needed to be done and, for a short while, closed the road."
He explained it was reopened several hours later and the road was also closed overnight on Friday last week.
