JUMBLE SALE: A jumble sale will be held on Saturday at 2pm in the village hall with proceeds to the village hall and the Air Ambulance. For details call Betty Hodges on 750449.

COBALT APPEAL: The Cobalt Unit Appeal Fund's grand sale is on Saturday, April 8 at 2pm in the village hall. Stalls will include new and nearly new clothes, as-new shoes, bric-a-brac, toys, books, bedding, curtains, plants, shrubs, produce, cakes, many new items, tombola and raffle.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION: A committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 4 in The Anchor Inn at 8pm. The Eckington and District branch has decided to have an outing on Wednesday, May 17 to the Royal British Legion's Arboretum in Alrewas, near Lichfield. It leaves Eckington at 9.15am and leaves the arboretum at 3.30pm. The coach will cost £9, entrance to the arboretum is free. There is a restaurant and a picnic area. Some wheelchairs are available. ANNUAL PARISH MEETING: The meeting is at the village hall on Tuesday, April 11 at 7.30pm. All members of the electorate are welcome. The parish council will be providing a report at this meeting on the council's work over the last 12 months and an update on the progress towards the action points set out in the parish plan. One issue raised was whether there was a need for street lighting. The council is exploring the feasibility and need for street lighting, and the potential costs, and will be presenting the information at the meeting.

THURSDAY CLUB: On April 13, the outing is to Moreton for a coffee stop, followed by Waterperry Gardens, Oxfordshire. Leave Eckington at 9.30am, coach £7, admission £3.50. Non-members are welcome.
