LIFE during the Second World War is captured with humanity and humour in the latest production at Kidderminster's Rose Theatre.
And A Nightingale Sang will run from Monday until Saturday, April 8.
The play, by C P Taylor, is set during the war years, when there were no public worries, only private worries.
It tells the story of a working class family from Newcastle, who have to deal with their personal relationships, preoccupations, troubles and joys while the future of their country is under threat.
Music and period detail create an atmospheric backdrop, which shows the spirit and determination the family display in living through the dark days of the war.
It is said to be C P Taylor's most well known work and his use of recognisable characters, familiar domestic situations and the family dynamics makes it engaging.
Resident theatre company, the Nonentities, will present the play, first staged in 1977.
