WHAT a difference a day makes ... or rather, what a difference a Knight makes!

Stourport Swifts may have picked up four points from their last two games but the fact that they have kept back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season is probably just as pleasing for manager Roy Rencher.

And it is no coincidence that the new mean streak at the back has coincided with the arrival of experienced central defender Lee Knight from Evesham United.

At Solihull Boro last week he helped guide Swifts to a 0-0 draw, his experience blending well with the youthfulness of defensive partner Dan Harvey.

And while the Stourport goal led a charmed life against Solihull - the woodwork, goal line clearances and keeper Craig Ladek keeping them bay - Swifts could have grabbed victory deep in injury time when Craig Marshall pounced on a loose ball six yards out but miscued his shot.

Knight then took the star role at Bedworth United on Saturday, scoring the goal in Stourport's 1-0 win and then producing a number of excellent tackles at the other end to deny the Warwickshire outfit an equaliser.

The goal came on 14 minutes, Knight heading an Adam Robinson free-kick past the stranded Bedworth keeper.

The home side had a number of chances to level but when they came to nothing, Swifts almost doubled their lead five minutes from time when a corner from Tom Coley rolled across the goal line, just eluding the foot of substitute Stuart Rencher.
