I CAN only applaud the recent remarks by Jill Fairbrother Millis and June Salter with regard to getting the priorities right.
The refurbishment of County Hall affects very few of the electorate but the terrible state of our roads and pavements impinges on everyone.
Most of us give very little thought to the fact all the monies under the control of the local authority is extorted from us in Council Tax and the Government does even better with the plethora of taxes on us.
There is no mysterious pot of money - when the Government or local authority talks about allocating money for various projects, it is our money.
With the Council Tax demand this week came a number of publications which must have cost a fortune and in them we see a complete repudiation of what has gone before.
Under the heading of "Achievements - item four - single site - a preferred site has been chosen for the new council offices at Churchfields in Kidder-minster".
What has happened to the consultants report, commissioned at great expense to help to decide which should be the chosen site?
The council leader said in the Shuttle/Times & News: "I'm not bothered whether the single site is in Stourport or Kidderm-inster. It is for the consultants to draw up the options and come up with detail on what will be best".
Bah! Humbug! Do we have a council elected by local people or a dictatorship?
