Women's hockey: Redditch Ladies 2, Kings Heath 0
Redditch notched up three more points on Saturday with a comfortable win. A scoreline of 6-0 may have been a fairer reflection but the Kings Heath goalkeeper made a number of excellent saves.
Redditch began well with Jo Stafford opening the scoring on 25 minutes.
Emma Preston and Becky Southwell went close to adding to the scoreline before half-time but Preston had to wait until the second period before wrapping up the points with a fine shot on the turn.
Harborne 2nds 2, Redditch Ladies 1
A strengthened Harborne side took the points in a good, fast competitive game on Monday.
But it was the visitors who made the best of starts, taking the lead inside five minutes when Claire Steadman's cross was perfectly deflected into the net by the alert Preston.
Redditch were on top in these early exchanges thanks to some excellent work by Southwell, Stafford and Lian Cooper.
Harborne threatened more as the half wore on and equalised after 20 minutes from a penalty corner.
Stafford had a penalty stroke saved before the break but it was Harborne who edged ahead 10 minutes after the restart while the nearest went was a Preston effort that was just too high.
