VOLUNTEERS are being sought for a litter-picking session around Dines Green this coming weekend - with lunch afterwards.
Councillor Margaret Layland is spearheading the session, which will start at The Green Centre on Saturday April 1, at 11am.
All litter picked up will be recycled where possible - in the same spirit as the city council's recent Rubbish/ Sort it! campaign.
Coun Layland is calling on volunteers of any age to help out. "There is a great community spirit in Dines Green and it's a far from dirty area," she said.
"This is a great opportunity for people to get involved in a spring clean and show people we don't want litter on our patch."
The pick-up coincides with a new rule that empowers the authority to fine people £75 for dropping rubbish in public.
Anyone wanting to donate food or drink to the volunteers' lunch can make donations at DG Pharmacy on Gresham Road.
All volunteers will be entered into a prize draw for a free cut and blow dry at Scissor Sisters' hairdressers in Dines Green.
Anyone wanting more information can call Coun Layland on 01905 421 849.
