REDDITCH United manager Gary Whild is looking to bolster his side ahead of Friday's transfer deadline for Nationwide Conference North sides.
And he is hoping to bring Worcester City striker Leon Kelly to the Valley Stadium after the Coventry-based hitman was told he was free to leave St George's Lane.
Kelly has struggled for form this season and the recent arrival of Mark Danks at City has seen him a regular on the subs bench.
Whild admits he would like to bring the striker to Reds but knows other clubs are also in the hunt.
"I have always liked him and the way he plays," the Redditch boss said.
"He is a real handful for defenders and although he doesn't get as many goals as he should, he gets into the scoring positions.
"It may be that a change of club may benefit him as he has been at Worcester for a long time.
"He would be a useful addition and would give us options up front."
Whild has targetted either a midfielder or striker in an attempt to boost his squad in time for the run-in.
Kelly has been told by City boss Andy Preece that he is surplus to requirements as he looks to keep tabs on his playing budget.
Preece said: "I could not afford to keep Leon on the same sort of level of wages that he's on at the moment.
"If somebody out there can get close to matching his wages and sort it out before the end of the season, then we've got to let that happen for him.
"Leon's had an up and down season. He's not been at his best and he will be the first to admit that."
"It's not the end of the road for him at Worcester, it just depends what happens but there are teams after him."
Redditch face a tough few days in their bid to climb out of the relegation zone.
Saturday sees them head to Worksop Town, another team struggling at the wrong end of the table, and Monday sees them travelling north to take on Droylesden.
But at least Whild can call on a fully-fit squad for the double-header after defenders Damian Whitcombe, Ian King and Mark Creighton all recovered from knocks.
"It is hard enough playing on a Saturday and Tuesday so Monday's game is going to be difficult," Whild added. "There are seven teams down there that could change places so we have everything to play for."
