I would be grateful if I could use your letters page to thank the people who helped me when I fell and broke my leg in Catshill last Thursday.
Firstly the lady driving the 4x4 with all her dogs in it. She insisted on taking me and my dog home. I did not realise at the time how bad the injury was, so her insistence prevented things from becoming even worse.
I would also like to thank the paramedic who arrived at my house a mere seven minutes after the phone call and also the staff of the Princess of Wales Community Hospital for their kind attention.
At the Alexandra Hospital particular thanks go to Mr Knebel for being so patient and taking the time to explain my injury so clearly and the ladies in the plaster room, who were also very kind and considerate.
One hears such dire tales of bad service given by the NHS, but this was not my experience. From the first good Samaritan to the last professional, I have nothing to say but thank you.
My one and only criticism is aimed solely at whoever it was who left the flattened beer can that I slipped on in the street. At the age of 73 you don't bounce back so readily and if it had been their grandmother who had taken the fall I'm sure this litter lout would have been outraged.
