Polesworth North Warwick 1 Fairfield Villa 2
VILLA made it three wins in as many weeks over Polesworth to keep them on the title trail for the Midland Combination Division One title on Saturday.
Victory means that Fairfield, who are currently second in the table, are in pole position to win the division.
Fairfield have three games in hand over Knowle and trail by just two points.
Joint manager Paul Oakes said: "We are in a good position in the table and the win over Polesworth takes us another step closer.
"There's still a long way to go though and we can't afford to make any mistakes."
Fairfield had already met Polesworth twice in March in the two-legged semi-final of the Presidents' Cup and beaten them 2-1 twice.
The visitors wasted little time exerting their superiority and Joe Walsh set up Spencer Kenwood for the opener in the first half.
Walsh then bagged a second goal early in the second period, when his cross/shot was deflected in off a Polesworth defender.
Villa's opponents hit back with a goal and then pushed for an equaliser.
However, goalkeeper Dave White made two excellent saves late on to deny the home side any share of the points.
