Droitwich Spa 2 Continental Reserves 0
IN-FORM Droitwich continued to power towards mid-table safety in the Midland Combination Division Two by beating Continental Star Reserves.
Victory, Droitwich's fifth in six games, means that they are seventh in the table and riding high on the crest of a wave. With wet and windy conditions neither team could play flowing football.
Despite the weather Matt Crawford opened the scoring in the 37th minute. He made a strong challenge in the Star box and the ball deflected off an opposition player and beat the goalkeeper.
Matt Jenkins then forced a second goal after half time. The midfielder steered in a driven cross, which came off a defender for an own goal.
Spa continued to work hard, but had to weather increasing pressure from the visitors.
Only a well-timed tackle by Lee Elvins prevented them from pulling a goal back in the closing stages.
Droitwich play Feckenham Reserves at home on Saturday, April 1 (2.45pm kick off).
