IT did not surprise me that Les Hines got tied up quickly with another club - he's a good player with plenty of ability.
Since he's been at Worcester City, Les has performed well and I knew something would get sorted out soon. Hopefully, everything will work out for him at Hednesford.
He's been a solid player and never let me down. On top of that, he's a really nice guy.
By joining the Pitmen, he can put himself in the shop window rather than sit on the bench here and play in the reserves.
Looking at the bigger picture, Adam Burley has come in to take the left wing-back spot. Shabir Khan can also play there when fit and teenager Dale Watkins is coming through.
If the play-offs are out of the question -- and it looks increasingly likely with just seven games left -- then I would rather give the younger lads an opportunity.
Leon Kelly may also be leaving the club before Friday's transfer deadline. I cannot afford to keep him on the same sort of level of wages he's on at the moment.
I'm only going to offer Leon reduced terms, but if another club can offer close to his current wages, then it's only fair that we let him move on.
Several clubs have shown an interest, including Nationwide North teams, so we cannot hold him back.
One thing about Leon is that he always works hard and gives everything. But by his own admission, he's had an up and down season.
Leon is pretty honest about the game and very critical about himself. He knows he's got a lot to do to justify getting the same amount of money.
I'm sure someone will offer him close to what he's on. If nothing comes off, he will stay with us until the end of the season.
If Leon stays, he will be involved against Alfreton on Saturday. But if not, there are one or two things we can fall back on.
Mark Danks is suspended, but Troy Wood is getting back to full fitness and there are alternative options at my disposal.
We've not won at St George's Lane in our last four games, but we must beat Alfreton to stand any chance of nicking a play-off place.
I could not have been happier with our performance at Hednesford -- we were really positive at the start of both halves.
I was pleased with both our first two goals. Adam Webster got on the end of a well-worked move and it was a cracking strike by George Clegg on his weaker right foot for the second goal.
We showed a lot of confidence, with plenty of good passing, good movement and people getting into the box. The players know what we want from them and they are starting to believe in themselves.
Hednesford were a bit unfortunate. They tried their hearts out, but they were two-down to a wonder-strike and a superb team goal.
At 2-0, we sat back a little and allowed them into the game, but they did not look like scoring.
The reason for the celebrations for Webby's second goal was because that specific set-piece move was something we've practiced in training. My assistant Andy 'Jock' Morrison deserves a mention for working hard on that.
