THERE will be a touch of romance and magic that will appeal to all at the Artrix on Sunday, April 2, when the Vienna Festival Ballet perform two contrasting shows.
The company will perform Highland romance La Sylphide and then follow it with George Gershwin classic Rhapsody in Blue.
Set in the Scottish Highlands La Sylphide is a romantic full-length ballet about love and obsession.
Scotsman James spurns his wife-to-be to pursue a mischievous sylph.
When a wicked witch gets involved the tale becomes about doomed young love in a moonlit and magical forest.
Choreographer Sheila Styles, who learnt her trade at the Royal Ballet School, follows up her own versions of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella with La Sylphide. Styles has a strong pedigree dancing as Principal with London City Ballet and co-founding dance companies Balletmania and Dance Advance.
Vienna Festival Ballet follows up La Sylphide with 1930s singer/songer writer George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Choreographer Daryl Raizal-Ming Tan's orchestrates a jazzy energetic ballet.
Tickets for La Sylphide and Rhapsody in Blue cost £17 per person or a family ticket (two adults and two children) is £48.
There will be two showings on Sunday, on 2pm and 5pm.
