BUDDING newshounds made the headlines and beat the deadlines when they were challenged to produce a newspaper in a day.
Year 12 media students at Arrow Vale High School took part in the nationwide Times Educational Supplement (TES) Newsday event earlier this month.
The challenge saw students working hard to create their own newspaper to a tight deadline, with the finished product being sent off to TES headquarters.
It will be judged against entries from all over Britain, with prizes awarded to the best articles and photographs.
English teacher Chris Horn said: "We have been pleased with student participation, they have produced highly commended and commended newspapers in the past."
Head of English Kevin Moore added: "I am always impressed by the enthusiasm shown during the day and how well the students cope with the inevitable crisis."
The Green Sward Lane school recently set up its own news team to keep its website up to date with the latest events.
