THE mother of a soldier going to Iraq has hit out at the ''disappointing'' news coverage of the march against the war held across the world.
Lynda Holmes, of Seymour Road, Alcester, featured on the front page of the Chronicle a fortnight ago.
She said she prayed daily that her Guardsman son and his platoon would not go - and so joined thousands of protesters in London to try to help stop the war.
Her son Robert faces a six-month posting to Iraq in May, followed by a posting to Afghanistan.
Mrs Holmes told him she was going to the demonstration but said he asked her why and didn't understand - however, she felt the war was not just and that was why she was protesting.
But the angry mother of three said the media covergae of the march had been a let-down.
"What was disappointing was the lack of news coverage that evening and since. Apart from the very short coverage it received, it was practically 'blacked out'," she said.
Since the march, Mrs Roberts has been visited by a former major of the Grenadiers who spoke to her about his experiences and career.
"I think he thought we were anti-army - but this is not so. We are just angered by the illegal entry into Iraq."
She added: "I know that not everyone will agree with my efforts but I can't stand by now and watch the deterioration in Iraq and the 'spin' being sent out from Government offices. Too many people are dying and being injured."
Lynda now wants to continue her efforts, along with a number of people she met on the march and is asking for more people to join the protest.
"I, along with the others who share my views, are in the process of contributing in some way to bring the truth to the general public and try to bring our troops home sooner rather than later. If anyone wishes to contact me, please ring my mobile on 079802 12486," said said Mrs Holmes.
