ANOTHER Worcester restaurant has agreed to hold a charity night for the victims of the Kashmir/Pakistan earthquake.
Sidbury Spice, in Sidbury, will open its doors tonight and give all the money to the special cause. They are the latest in a long line of curry houses in the city to join Councillor Allah Ditta's schools pledge.
He is hoping to raise £500,000 to build two new schools, one for girls and one for boys, in his home country. And he is hoping this event will be a success, unlike the last one, which was ruined by a hoax caller.
He said: "Everyone has been extremely generous and so far we have raised about £16,000.
"The last event was spoiled by a malicious caller, but I am determined this one will be a success."
Guest speaker at the event will be Worcester's High Sheriff, Andrew Grant. Coun Ditta hopes Mr Grant's presence at the dinner will encourage English restaurants to follow the example being set by their Asian counterparts.
Tickets for this evening, which can be bought on the door, cost £25 and include dinner, a glass of champagne, and a bottle of wine for four people. It starts at 7.00pm and will go on as long as necessary.
