WORCESTER City are hoping for a change of fortune ahead of their next Nationwide North test.
City host Nuneaton Borough at St George's Lane tonight (7.45) looking for a repeat of the performance that saw them lose 1-0 to leader's Northwich Victoria on Saturday -- although they will want a better result.
Player-manager Andy Preece will also be wishing for improved luck on the injury front after youngster Sam Wedgbury and striker Leon Kelly needed hospital treatment early in the Northwich match.
Wedgbury was concussed, while Kelly received four stitches in a deep head wound and both are likely to miss this evening's game.
Liam McDonald should play, however, having come through Saturday's match, while City are hopeful fellow midfielder Tom Warmer will be fit following a virus.
Preece was pleased with his side's efforts against the team many think will walk away with the Nationwide North title this season.
He said: "The only disappointing thing about Saturday was the result.
"We more than competed with them, had better opportunities and also the majority of the play. It's a deflected goal that has beaten us. They were a good side, there's no doubt about it.
"We think that we are a good side, but we have to show it on a consistent basis week in and week out, which we have done for the last two or three weeks.
"We need to carry that on for the rest of the season."
Preece also praised City's supporters, saying: "It was brilliant for the crowd to get behind us. I think that they know that we have got one or two injuries at the moment and everyone is giving their all."
Looking ahead to Nuneaton tonight, Preece added: "It's another tough game, but everyone's tough in this league.
"It doesn't matter who you play, you come up against different problems. I am happy with the way we are going at the minute and as long as that continues we are going to have no problems."
Nuneaton romped to a 4-0 victory at Moor Green on Saturday to stay five points behind Northwich.
