MALVERN Town won their seventh Midland Alliance game out of eight on Wednesday evening when they visited Causeway United.
CAUSEWAY UNITED 1, MALVERN TOWN 2
Home goalkeeper Matt Sideaway was in tremendous form and made several top-class saves as Malvern dominated the game.
Sideaway denied Mark Owen and Nathan Jukes before Cox fired Causeway's best chance of the half over the crossbar.
Five minutes before half-time, Jukes found Mark Owen just inside the box and the striker turned and fired home just before he was challenged.
Seven minutes into the second half, Malvern went 2-0 up and again it was leading scorer Owen. Good work by Rik Halion and Duncan Preedy allowed Phil Preedy to square the ball to Owen, who blasted home from six yards.
In the 78th minute, a poor defensive header allowed Craig Busby to run through to pull a goal back but Town still had three or four chances to seal the game. Lee Tompkins nearly scored with a good header and Nathan Jukes fired a free-kick just over the bar. Mark Owen burst through looking for his hat-trick but again Sideaway produced a brilliant save.
